Type is sexy: Helvetica mon amour

Helvetica, so much more than a simple font: the writing of urban modernity, a way of life! When it was created in 1957, there was a desire to cast off post-war austerity, invent the consumer society, prepare for the globalised economy... Favoured by graphic artists, today it has become a universal font, one that is positively worshipped, with tee-shirts, books and even a film dedicated to it. The photo series Utopy by Lionel Bayol-Thémines brings into play again, for the Type is Sexy: Helvetica, mon amour exhibition, a family of characters that remains the most commonly used font in the world.
