(Detroit’s Café + Bureau)
ShiftSpace will be a café, meeting place and shared workspace for participants and visitors to the Biennale. It will offer meals, drinks, a layout and an invitation to dialogue Detroit-style. Situated in the Manufacture courtyard, Shiftspace is proposed by Creative Many Michigan and will be the venue for a series of encounters and discussions, as well as workshops and events as part of the official programme, on the theme: Universal Basic. This series will intentionally explore the way the interconnected worlds of design, technology, politics and economics are able to produce results that benefit everyone. Universal Basic is based on a profound curiosity about what could be called the non-exceptional future, inviting visitors to adopt speculative visions and expressions about tomorrow's world of work
