Guided tour for the general public

A themed guided tour is available for all visitors on the Cité du Design site: The Experiences of Beauty.

Beauty every way it can be experienced! The perception, interpretation and analysis what is beautiful in design cannot be generic. Everyone can find that something is "really beautiful" while anyone else can say the opposite. The guided tour will examine the values and intentions conveyed by aesthetics. What do the forms produced say about the way of life, the usages and practices of a society?

What's new in 2015


A café and snack space, designed by the curators in the Form follows information exhibition.

Two foodtrucks in front of the Tour Observatoire: Gagaburger and La cantine qui trottine.

Confectionery at the Weiss pop-up shop.

In the courtyard of the H buildings, come and partake in a very special experience at the Pop-up restaurant: soak up the atmosphere in this space designed by the students of the ESADSE and the Institut Paul Bocuse.

The boutique/bookshop is expanding with a dedicated pavilion accessible to all on the front of the H buildings: staionery, tableware, lighting, decoration, a selection of books on the Biennial theme "the experiences of beauty", architecture, design, the catalogue for the 9th Biennial, a special issue of Azimuts published in conjunction the Tu nais, tuning, tu meurs exhibition, Occurrence no. 2 on the creation of the visual identity of the Saint-Etienne International Design Biennial. Biennial souvenirs, a selection of objects, toys and children's books will complete the selection of objects by Korean designers. The boutique will also contain a tourist information desk.
