Cut & Care — A Chance to Cut is a Chance to Care

The phenomenal acceleration in new information and communication technologies has led to working hours being extended, spread over 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These technologies have also generated previously unimagined forms of sedentarisation and "polar inertia". To the extent that today we are beginning to see the emergence of a new figure, the "horizontal worker". The Cut & Care exhibition will seek to map out the forces and flows to which existing and future "horizontal workers" are and will be exposed. It will also depict how forms of attention and care, of oneself, but also of others - forms of solidarity, creation of shared experiences - are born of this new horizontal system of organising values and bodies. In terms of the display, Cut & Care will mainly include examples of horizontal furniture - beds, chaises longues, tatamis, etc. - as well as a selection of tools and accessories designed to "increase" and/or "reduce" the condition (lying down, extended) of the horizontal worker. Audio devices scattered about the exhibition space will enable the visitors to cut themselves off from the surrounding space, and at the same time, take care of themselves.
